Montana Exploration Corp. is a Canadian junior oil and gas exploration and production company focusing on the Bakken and Shaunavon oil opportunities underlying its extensive land holdings in Montana. In the United States the company operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Montana Land & Exploration, Inc. (ML&E).

Strategy

Montana Exploration holds almost 392,000 gross acres of largely contiguous lands in the Blaine County Area of Montana, including the extensive Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. This land position was assembled and held through the drilling for shallow natural gas production and putting into place the related infrastructure. The Fort Belknap Reservation having widespread Bakken potential and the balance of Montana Exploration’s acreage having multiple potential targets for Jurassic oil production, the company has shifted its focus from natural gas to oil exploration and development.

Montana Exploration is also actively pursuing potential acquisitions and participation in Devonian prospects in other regions of Montana to balance the exploration risk in the company and to provide substantial prospects for future growth.
